Water sports in Vanuatu

Lagoon and harbour adventures

Vanuatu is surrounded by some of the clearest, most pristine waters around. Make the most of your time there and indulge in water activities! Water sports are popular around most of the islands and gear can be hired on the water’s edge or from your resort. Kayak, jet ski, or paddle around on the water’s surface. Do whatever floats your boat (literally) and spend days enjoying the glorious sunshine!

If you don’t want to hire equipment from your resort (though the supply at each of them is plentiful), there are plenty of private vendors around the harbour in Port Villa. Wander the main strip of the bustling hub and take your pick! There are even glass-bottom boat tours to sign up for, for those water enthusiasts who don’t like to get wet! The best resorts for Vanuatu water sports

Most of Vanuatu’s popular resorts are by the harbour, lagoon or ocean and offer prime access to a range of water sports. On Efate island, you can take you pick of spots, with resorts set on all 3 waterfront locations! Stay on Iririki Island Resort & Spa to access the beautiful Vila Bay. Kayak or catamaran away from the mainland and Port Vila for a day at Snorkeler’s Cove. This beautiful beach has activities and snacks for resort guests and is great for a day trip! Other pro-water sport Efate locations include Moorings Hotel Vanuatu (close to the harbour), Poppys On The Lagoon Resort (on the edge of the Erakor Lagoon) and Hideaway Island Resort & Marine Sanctuary (set in the middle of the wide-stretching Mele Bay).

Water sport opportunities abound around Vanuatu’s other main islands too. Take a 15-minute ferry from the mainland of Santo and stay at Aore Island Resort. This stunning resort is set on the water’s edge—a water sport enthusiast’s dream! Hire snorkelling gear, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. Test your balancing skills on the top of the clear blue water and float along in the island breezes! Diving is popular on Aore Island too. Guests can hire gear and join a tour out to iconic Santo dive spots including Million Dollar Point and the SS President Coolidge wreck!
